4 different shots of pregnancy breakfast ideas

A few years ago on this blog I would do a monthly food and life in review post to share snippets of everyday life as well as some of the things I’d been eating on a daily basis. I love these kinds of posts because it’s a chance to share some everyday food ideas that don’t have to be beautifully photographed!

A lot of the food I eat most is food that doesn’t necessarily have a recipe. I love seeing what other people who follow a gluten-free diet eat on daily basis so I am going to try and do more “what I’ve been eating posts” to share some ideas.

Breakfast is hands down my favorite meal of the day! I’ve been living off breakfast foods this pregnancy and these are some of my favorites.

avocado toast topped with hard boiled egg and chili lime seasoning

I’ve had avocado toast on my favorite gluten-free sourdough bread (Bread SRSLY) a few times a week this whole pregnancy. I keep the sourdough sliced in my freezer so I can toast it up for avocado toast or toast with a fried egg. It’s the best! (None of this post is sponsored – I just love that bread.) Lately I’ve been loving mashing up the avocado with Trader Joe’s Chile Lime Seasoning. It takes avocado toast to a whole new level!

banana egg pancakes with chocolate chips on white plate

When I have slightly overripe bananas I love making these easy banana protein pancakes. This is the image from my instagram stories that I shared a few weeks ago. I also usually add a pinch of salt and a splash of maple syrup.

I like to cook the pancakes in butter and usually add some dark chocolate chips. They taste like such a treat! These are also great with peanut butter instead of cashew butter.

pancakes on white plate

Speaking of pancakes – my boys request “Mama’s Pancakes” once a week or so. These Gluten-Free Buckwheat Flax Pancakes are still our very favorite! I keep my gluten-free flour blend stocked so I can make these pancakes often.

sweet potato turkey hash with avocado on white plate

This is actually an old picture of a breakfast I make all the time because I hadn’t snapped a recent one. This is not a pretty dish at all, but it’s so delicious! It’s turkey sweet potato hash with sweet potatoes, ground turkey, green onions and my favorite herbamare seasoned salt.

I like to make a big batch then reheat it for breakfasts throughout the week. I need to share a recipe for this sometime! I’m planning on making a big batch and freezing it in individual portions before the baby comes.

bag of gluten-free granola

Another Trader Joe’s favorite! I love this new Toasted Coconut Granola. It reminds me of Honey Bunches of Oats, but is totally gluten-free. The only thing is a serving size is supposed to be 1/3 a cup – but I usually end up eating 1/3 the bag!

I’ve been using that granola to top smoothie bowls too!

chocolate smoothie in metal cup

This Chocolate Flax Superfood Shake is one of my go-to breakfasts. It makes a great on-the-go breakfast or afternoon snack.

shot of how to make a watermelon smoothie in blender

Speaking of smoothies, this isn’t necessarily a breakfast thing but we’ve been loving watermelon smoothies this summer! My boys go crazy for them and I think they taste like a refreshing slushy. I use this recipe from Pinch of Yum and add a squeeze of fresh lime juice. So delicious!

oatmeal in white bowl topped with blueberries and almond milk

I love a big bowl of comforting oatmeal! Lately I’ve been loving this Gluten-Free Scottish Oatmeal from Bob’s Red Mill. I like to add a big spoonful of cashew butter, almond milk, coconut sugar, and top it with frozen mini blueberries.

waffle on white plate topped with chocolate hazelnut butter

A frozen waffle topped with Justin’s Chocolate Hazelnut Butter is one of my favorite pregnancy breakfasts or late-night treats. During my first trimester 100% Buckwheat Waffles from my freezer saved me many mornings! I am going to make sure I have some homemade buckwheat waffles in my freezer for late-night nursing snacks when the baby comes as well!
