These gluten-free turkey meatballs are my new favorite thing to make! They are absolutely delicious and flavorful on their own, but can be use for so many meals and dishes.

If you’ve been searching for a good gluten-free frozen meatball with no avail, you can easily make your own with this recipe! You also might like these gluten-free pork and beef meatballs!

Ingredients

  • Ground Turkey: I like to use 93/7 because it has good flavor. For best results don’t use 99/1.
  • Gluten-Free Panko Breadcrumbs: Any kind of gluten-free breadcrumbs will work. I like this brand.
  • Parmesan Cheese: Use a high quality grated parmesan cheese. I like the kind from Trader Joes.
  • Olive Oil: Gives the meatballs a yummy texture and helps them brown.
  • Egg: Needed for binding
  • Onion Powder & Garlic Powder: I prefer using onion powder and garlic powder for flavor rather than grated onion and garlic because of the texture.
  • Salt: The parmesan cheese is already salty so just a touch.

Tip: Use 93% lean/7% fat ground turkey instead of 99% lean/1% fat for meatballs with delicious flavor and texture.

How to Make Gluten-Free Meatballs

Making gluten-free meatballs is easy! All you do is add the ingredients to a large bowl…

all meatball ingredients in a bowl

Then mix with your hands (easiest way) or spatula (cleanest way) until evenly combined.

Then you shape them into balls. I like to use a small cookie scoop to measure out even sizes then roll them into round balls with slightly wet hands.

Place the shaped meatballs onto a lined baking sheet and bake.

These make the BEST freezer meal!

I like to make a big batch of these meatballs and freeze them in a resealable bag for later. To serve, all you have to do is dump the meatballs into a microwave safe bowl and defrost slightly before adding to your favorite sauce.

Here are some of our favorite ways to eat these meatballs:

  • Add to marinara sauce and serve with spaghetti and gluten-free garlic bread
  • Make Swedish meatball sauce and and serve over gluten-free spaetzle
  • Add to BBQ sauce (or your favorite sauce!) and serve in a crockpot for appetizers

Made this turkey meatballs use regular breadcrumbs cuz didn’t have any gluten free and came out fantastic. Definitely will make this again with gluten-free breadcrumbs. This is definitely a keeper! I saw more recipes that I want to try. So excited.

My first time making meatballs. Total SUCCESS. Super easy to follow recipe. Thanks for posting and sharing it.

Very good taste and texture. However did not like the panko crumbs. I should have let them soak up liquid before mixing with the meat because some were still hard and some were a gooey lump. I’m going back to potatoes flakes. I also like the mild flavor of these as I do grape jelly and chili sauce every Xmas eve. So glad to have this recipe. Just moisten the Panko crumbs before mixing or use instant potatoes.

These are AMAZING! Everyone in my family likes them including my picky husband! I already made them twice within 2 weeks.
I did use the air fryer instead, I think I did 350F for 15-18 min.

  4. These meatballs are delicious. I didn’t want them bland but also didn’t want them too strong as I’m making grape jelly chili sauce cocktail meatballs for Xmas eve. I added a teaspoon of Bells seasoning. I didn’t have Panko so used potato flakes. They were perfect. Love that they browned. Makes all the difference in appearance and flavor. A lot easier to make than I expected and really superior to store bought and I needed gluten free this year..

Hi, this says 310 calories for the turkey meatballs. For How many? Im trying to log my calorie intake.
    Thank you
    P.s. these are the bomb!

    1. That is the amount of calories for 1/8th of the recipe. It can vary based on how big you make the meatballs! I hope this helps!

This was the first recipe I made after starting my gluten free diet. I hadn’t had meatballs in years. The flavor of the meatballs isn’t too strong which is probably good for some people. But I drown virtually all my foods in ridiculous amounts of spice. I will definitely be making this recipe again but I’ll be using heaping spoons instead of level ones.

My husband raved about these meatballs. Very tasty and a nice crust to them. Much better than store bought meatballs. We will definitely be making them again!!

These are perfection! I’d never made meatballs in the oven before, but it was so simple and the texture was incredible. This recipe is going in our family favorites file! We served them with spaghetti squash, and my kids ate every bit of it with the meatballs.

  9. Is there a way to make the meatballs a little softer? Mine turned out to be really tough, which I didn’t mind but the rest of my family did.

    1. I like my meatballs a little bit firm. If meatballs are too tough, it could be due to over mixing or too much handling when shaping. Mix until just combined. Try not to handle meatballs too much when shaping. Good luck.

I can’t believe how veggie filled this is! I love the sauce and it was so interesting adding arrowroot to the meatballs. I was pleasantly surprised how delicious they were.
