Ingredients

Instructions

  • (Optional) If you have an air popper, use the kernels and pop according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • If you don’t have an air popper, heat a large nonstick pot over medium heat. Add the kernels and cover the pot with a tight fitting lid. Shake the pot gently every 5 seconds until the kernels begin to pop. Then continue shaking the pot until popping is 5 seconds apart. Immediately remove the popcorn from the heat and pour it onto a rimmed baking sheet.
  • Place 1 ½ cups of white chocolate chips into a microwave safe bowl and heat for 30 second intervals, stirring between each one, until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
  • Drizzle the white chocolate evenly over the popcorn and then sprinkle over the remaining white chocolate chips and salt.
  • Allow the popcorn to sit at room temperature until the white chocolate is set– about 30 minutes. Then break the popcorn into clusters and store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

Notes

RECIPE NOTES
  • like to use white popcorn kernels rather than yellow popcorn kernels for this white chocolate popcorn recipe. This keeps the popcorn bright white! But you can use whatever kind of popcorn kernels you have on hand.
  • If you want to make black and white popcorn, simply add a drizzle of dark chocolate or milk chocolate along with the white chocolate.
  • Feel free to dress up this white chocolate popcorn mix however you'd like! There are so many possibilities for delicious mix-ins, like cashews, almonds, peanut butter drizzle, marshmallows, milk chocolate chips, festive sprinkles, and more.
  • It's normal to end up with unpopped kernels after air popping or making popcorn over the stove. You can leave the kernels in the batch of popcorn and just eat around it, or take the time to remove the kernels before pouring onto a cookie sheet and adding the candy coating.
