Ingredients

  • cup popcorn kernels about 10 cups popped
  • ¼ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup chopped snickers bars
  • ½ cup roasted salted peanuts

Instructions

  • (Optional) If you have an air popper, use the kernels and pop according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • If you don’t have an air popper, heat a large nonstick pot over medium-high heat. When the pot is warm, pour in the kernels and cover the pot with a tight fitting lid. While the kernels warm, shake the pot occasionally to prevent burning.
  • When the kernels begin to pop, continue shaking the pot until popping is about 5 seconds apart. Then remove it from the heat and pour the popcorn onto a rimmed baking sheet.
  • Place the chocolate chips into a microwave safe bowl and heat for 30 second intervals, stirring between each one, until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
  • Drizzle the chocolate evenly over the popcorn and sprinkle with kosher salt. Then sprinkle over the chopped snickers bars and peanuts.
  • Place the popcorn in the fridge to chill until the chocolate has set– about 10 minutes. Break the popcorn into clusters and store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

Notes

RECIPE NOTES
  • Make sure you don’t overheat the chocolate when melted in the microwave. It will probably still look lumpy when you remove the bowl from the microwave, but you just need to stir it to make it smooth and silky!
  • You’ll need chopped Snickers bars for this recipe. I find that it’s easiest to buy one or two king-size Snickers bars rather than having to unwrap lots of mini Snickers.
  • I prefer using popcorn kernels for this recipe, rather than a bag of microwave popcorn! To pop the kernels, you can use an air popper or a pot over the stove.
