Tips for Gluten-Free Soup
- Be sure your ingredients are gluten-free. Most chicken stock and beef broth are naturally gluten-free.
- Use tamari (gluten-free soy sauce) in place of regular soy sauce. Soy sauce is often used to perk up the flavor of soups and stews. Be sure to use gluten-free soy sauce (tamari) or even coconut aminos to keep your soup gluten-free.
- Use gluten-free flour or cornstarch to thicken stews. Some soups and stews are thickened with a roux. A roux is basically any kind of fat and thickener whisked together. Any kind of all-purpose gluten-free flour can be subbed for regular flour when making gluten-free soup.
- Make a double batch! Soup reheats wonderfully so I alway like to make a big batch and freeze or refrigerate some for later.
- Top with a drizzle of olive oil. I always like finishing homemade soup with some high quality olive oil. It makes the flavors sing!
